Fundación con Una Sonrisa began in 1999 and serves Paraguay, a country where 40% of the 7.3 million residents live in abject, dangerous, backbreaking, and gut-wrenching poverty. It robs its victims of all hope, leading to unfinished education, child labor, drug addiction, crime, and prostitution.
Fundación con Una Sonrisa began working in the Villas del Barrio Ita Enramada in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, visiting once a week and giving the children haircuts, hygiene lessons, and instilling Christian education and values. Today, working through local Christian churches, Fundación con Una Sonrisa serves neighborhoods in other cities, including Lambaré, San Antonio, Villa Elisa, San Lorenzo, Ñemby, and Itagua,
